Right up by the forested border of the rugged Spanish Gredo mountains, a new generation of wine farmers are proving the prophet wrong about the inevitable depopulation of this outlier landscape. The wine farms have put ever thing they have into revitalizing this old, and almost abandoned, wine area. They are doing this with the deepest respect for the environment and the natural habitat. The wine farmer Alfredo Maestro is one of those at the frontier of the fight to male put Gredos back on the wine map, by using biodynamic techniques, lots of hard work, a pure focus on quality, and a belief in the future.
